How old do you have to be to join a team?A. The minimum age with a parent's written permission is 16 years old. Otherwise the minimum age is 18 years of age. There is no maximum age rule.
Are women allow to join?
A. Yes.
How do I get on a team? A. There are a few ways of joining a team. One first way is to go to a game and ask a manager if you may join their team. The second way is to go to the managers meeting and ask all the managers at the meeting if any team needs help. Lastly, you can go to our free agent page and submit your information. It will be posted on the website for any team to contact you.
Can I join a team mid season?
A. Yes you can as long as you have NOT played on another team
during that current season.Players added after game 10 are NOT
eligible for the playoffs.
Can I play on multiple teams during
the season?
A. Absolutely NOT. Any player who plays on more than
one team during the same season will subject all participating
teams to forfeit all wins.
How many levels of play are there?
A. We have anywhere from 4 to 6 divisions. The level of play
varies but normally the AAA division is for the more experienced players and
the B division is for the players with the least amount experience. There
are no rules to prevent anyone from playing on whichever level you want.
How much does it cost to play on a team?
A. The costs vary from team to team. At the time of this webpage the League fees
were $850 per team and either $45 or $50 per game for umpires. Some teams
have sponsors that will pick up part or all fees. Each team
determines the fees for their players.
Does the initiation fees include
uniforms?
A. No. While all team members must were matching uniforms
they are not part of the initiation fees.
Who pays for the umpires?
A. Each team is responsible for paying the umpires.
If there is two umpires each team is responsible for paying
one umpire. If there is only one umpire each teams pays their
portion of the fees to the umpire. The current rate for
each team is for two umpires $50 and $45 for one umpire
from each team.(As of July 2012)
Besides the Initiation and umpire
fees what else do I need in order to play?
A. The only other requirement is that you provide
your team with an electronic photo of yourself for the league rosters.
Most players just take a photo with their cell phone and send it in.
Where do you play your games at?
A. The Aztec Baseball League plays in various cities such as Pomona,
Fontana, Montclair, and Ontario. The fields we use change so take a look
at the fields webpage for the latest information.
What days and times do you play?
A. We play ONLY on Sundays. Starting times range
from 8:00 am and as late as 3:00 pm.
How long are the games?
A. All games are 9 innings or 2 hours and 45 minutes
whichever comes first. Games may end in a tie. Playoff games
are NOT limited by time.
How many games do you play per season?
A. We play 14 games per season plus playoffs for teams that qualify.
We will usually try to schedule each team to play each other divisional team
twice during the regular season.
How many teams make the playoffs?
A. Normally the first 4 teams from each division will
make the playoffs. In divisions where 3 separate divisions are used, the top
team will make the playoffs and also the best 2nd place team will qualify.
Playoff brackets are made up of 8 team brackets.
What is the playoffs format?
A. There are at least two sets of champions. Playoff games are a
single game elimination tournament.
Does the league award any trophies?
A. Yes. The league provides each team member ()Up to 18) trophies for all teams that win their
respective divisions. In addition, one 6 foot team trophy is awarded for the
playoff tournament champion. In place of trophies, teams may choose instead to receive
team credit on the next season's initiation fee's.
Are metal cleats allowed?
A. Yes. This is REAL Baseball.
