Drinking on school properties

January 20, 2025

No alcohol on school premises

I know I have talked and talked about drinking on our fields. We have talked about it during our league meetings. We see it posted on the website. You guys hear me talking on the fields about drinking on the fields. We know the kind of problems drinking on our fields has caused us in the past. Last Sunday a coach, text us that he had seen players from one team drinking on the fields. Everyone has been told what would happen. This team has now been banned from play. I feel bad because I know it wasn't the entire team that decided to drink on school property. Most likely it was only a few players that just weren't thinking. But I guess that doesn't really make a difference now. Now the Manager has to explain to the other teammates that they will no longer play this season. This whole situation just sucks on so many levels because its something that could have been so easily avoided. And in the end for what? a few beers?
Please, please, please, don't drink alcohol on our fields. We just can not afford to lose a field for stupid reasons like drinking alcohol on school properties. Any team caught drinking on school properties will face expulsion WITHOUT A REFUND immediately.

Martin Luther King Jr.

Remembering a great man

Martin Luther King Jr was born in the United States on Janaury 15, 1929. At birth he was named Michael King, but his father later changed his name to Martin Luther King Jr. In those days in the South was under run by the "Jim Crow laws" that kept black and white people separated called ‘segregation’. Black people had different schools, toilets and even sections of the bus to white people. They were also denied the right to vote in elections. His first major role in the Civil Rights Movement came in 1955, after an African American lady named Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a bus. This sparked outrage in the African American community and Martin helped to organise a boycott of the city’s buses. After 381 days of protest, a court finally ruled that such segregation laws should no longer be recognized. Martin was a great believer in peaceful protest, inspired by the Indian activist Mahatma Gandhi. His protests used no-violent tactics, even when the protesters themselves were met with violence from the police. In 1963, Martin gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech, at a famous rally named "March on Washington". Over 250,000 people gathered in the country’s capital to hear Martin. In October 1964, Martin won the Nobel Peace Prize. It had been a long, hard fight for civil rights. Tragically, Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated in 1968 in Tennessee, where he had given a speech the day before. Martin Luther King Jr is remembered for his dream that one day everyone would be treated as equals.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by their character."

Robert's Corner

Another great weekend of baseball even though I was still thinking of us losing a team because of drinking. Not sure how I feel about it. On one hand teams know the punishment for drinking but on the other hand I know it wasn't the whole team that was drinking. I just think its not fair to the other players.
We have a league meeting Tuesday. This meeting is for baseballs, rosters, and league fee balances. Teams can email me their rosters with players name. Please make sure to send someone to pick up baseballs. I don't want to get calls Sunday morning about not having any game balls.
Just a heads up, we will not play Super Bowl Sunday February 9, 2025.
I plan to post the standings after game 3.
As always I was out Sunday checking out some teams and the thing that stood out was that every single field I went to had puddles. I know this is the raining season but we have not seen a drop so far. Even though the early weather predications calls for a chance of rain next Sunday. Does anyone know why there is so many puddle issues lately?
